The fourth generation RAV4 was a complete redesign; It was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2012. The sale in the US began in early January 2013. In Great Britain and Australia, the fourth generation RAV4 went on sale in February. The engine range includes a 2.0- and 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine as well as 2.0 and 2.2-liter turbo diesel. The transmissions include a six-speed manual, continuously variable transmission (CVT) and six-speed automatic transmission. The RAV4, manufactured in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, has about 50 percent of its parts from Japan. The British model was launched in 2013. Early European models include the choice of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine or one of three 2.0-liter diesel engines. Taiwanese models include a 2.0-liter dual-VVT-i inline four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable seven-speed (Sequential Manual) gearbox or a 2.5-liter dual VVT-i inline four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. Indonesian models entered the market for a short time in early 2015 and were first unveiled in September at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Jakarta, which was only available in the G-Type. It includes a 2.0-liter dual VVT-i engine with CVT transmission (with seven-speed manual mode). The facelift version is currently available from 2017 from local import car dealers in Indonesia. The RAV4 no longer uses the V6 of the previous generation - all engine variants are four-cylinder in-line engines. Unlike the dual-wheelbase strategy of the previous XA30 model, the XA40 is only sold in a single wheelbase (equivalent to the LWB XA30). Therefore, as of April 2014, the current short wheelbase generation will be sold in Japan instead of the newer XA40, which is intended for export only. The Harrier replaces the long wheelbase model in Japan, previously called Vanguard. This generation RAV4 has a more traditional tailgate that opens upwards instead of the side opening tailgate of previous generations.
