At Least Once a Year Starter Switch Check Key Lock Cylinders Service {CAUTION: Lubricate the key lock cylinders with the lubricant speciﬁed in Part D. Body Lubrication Service Whenyouaredoingthisinspection,thevehicle couldmovesuddenly.Ifthevehiclemoves, Lubricate all hood latch assemblies, secondary latch,youorotherscouldbeinjured. pivots, spring anchor, release pawl, hood and body door hinges, rear compartment and any folding seat1. Before you start, be sure you have enough room hardware. Part D tells you what to use. More frequentaround the vehicle. lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive environment. 2. Firmly apply both the parking brake and the regular brake. See Parking Brake on page 2-28 if necessary. Donot use the accelerator pedal, and be ready to turn off the engine immediately if it starts. 3. Onautomatictransaxlevehicles, try to start the engineineachgear.Thestartershouldworkonlyin PARK(P)orNEUTRAL(N).Ifthestarterworksin anyotherposition, your vehicle needs service. Onmanualtransaxlevehicles,puttheshiftlever in NEUTRAL(N),pushtheclutchdownhalfwayand try to start the engine. The starter should work only whentheclutchispusheddownallthewaytothe ﬂoor. If the starter works when the clutch is not pushedallthewaydown,yourvehicleneedsservice. 6-21
