Engine Air Cleaner/Filter WhentoInspect the Engine Air Cleaner/Filter Inspect the engine air cleaner/ﬁlter every 15,000 miles (25 000 km) and replace every 30,000 miles (50 000 km). If you are driving in dusty/dirty conditions, inspect the ﬁlter at each engine oil change. How to Inspect the Engine Air Cleaner/Filter To inspect the engine air cleaner/ﬁlter remove the ﬁlter from the vehicle and lightly shake the ﬁlter to release loose dust and dirt. If the ﬁlter remains caked with dirt, a new ﬁlter is required. To inspect or replace the ﬁlter, do the following: The engine air cleaner/ﬁlter is located in the engine1. Remove the screws and lift off the cover. compartment on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.2. Check or replace the engine air cleaner/ﬁlter. See Engine Compartment Overview on page 5-143. Put the cover back on tightly and tighten the screws. for more information on location.See Using Your Maintenance Schedule on page 6-4 for replacement intervals. 5-20
